“Advancing Health Equity - Toward Resilient and Sustainable People-Centered Primary Healthcare Systems for Nairobi.”

A. INTRODUCTION

The Nairobi City County Government (NCCG) is pleased to invite professionals, researchers, policymakers and stakeholders in health to submit abstracts for the 1st Health Scientific Conference 2024 to be held in Nairobi, Kenya from 20th- 22nd November, 2024.

B. CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

The over-arching theme of the conference is: Advancing Health Equity – Towards Resilient and Sustainable People- Centered Primary Healthcare Systems for Nairobi. This conference, a first of its kind for NCCG, seeks to explore and address critical issues and strategies related to Primary Healthcare (PHC) with a focus on health equity, resilience, and sustainability. It aims at achieving the following objectives:

1. Promoting Health Equity: Explore innovative approaches to reduce health disparities and ensure that all individuals, regardless of socio-economic background or geographic location, have equal access to quality healthcare services.

2. Building Resilient People-Centered Primary Healthcare Systems: Discuss and analyze strategies for developing primary healthcare systems that include compassion, empathy, respect and responsiveness to the needs, values, and expressed desires of each individual patient.

3. Sustainability in Healthcare: Examine sustainable practices within healthcare systems, encompassing environmental considerations, resource management, and long-term viability to ensure ongoing health service delivery.

4. Knowledge Exchange: Facilitate the sharing of research findings, best practices, and success stories among participants as well as fostering a collaborative environment for the advancement of health equity and resilient health systems.

E. ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Abstracts shall be submitted in English as either Option 1 or 2 as described below.

  1. Option 1: Scientific abstracts
    • Title of paper; name, institutional affiliation, phone number and email address of corresponding author; name of presenting author and co-authors
    • Background: State the purpose and objective of the research/evaluation, the hypothesis that was tested or describe the problem being addressed by the research. Highlight the main objective of the study that was conducted This should be aligned with the title and content to be presented
    • Methods: State the study design, setting, study population, data collection and analysis methods
    • Results: Present the key findings of the study
    • Conclusions: Describe the significance of your findings and further implications of the results
  2. Option 2: Public Health Practice/Best Practice abstracts
    • Title of paper; name, institutional affiliation, phone number and email address of corresponding author; name of presenting author and co-authors
    • Background: Summarize the purpose, scope and objectives, of the programme, project or policy. Identify the specific challenges to programme/project/policy implementation
    • Description: Describe the programme, project or policy period, setting, target population (if applicable), activities and interventions undertaken in support of the programme, project or policy and methods, procedures and techniques used to collect and analyse data
    • Results and lessons learnt: Present the findings/outcomes of the programme, project or policy Include an analysis or evaluation of lessons learned and best practices
    • Conclusions/Next steps: Describe the significance of your findings/outcomes and future implications of the results
  3. Word Limit
    • The abstract text body is limited to 300 words. Titles are limited to 30 words only
    • Tables and graphs should not be part of the abstract

F. INFORMATION WEBINARS

To ensure submission of quality abstracts, we shall engage potential delegates in information webinars. Whereas it is not mandatory to attend these sessions to submit an abstract; researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders are highly encouraged to.The webinar dates are as follows.
